Image Orientation by Gps and Ins
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper deals with GPS and INS for georeferencing data collected by airborne imaging sensors. It goes through the basic features of GPS and INS and how they can be integrated to give positions and attitudes with higher precision and reliability than either system can achieve alone. Some simulations using GPS/INS orientation and aerial images have been done. The result shows that GPS and INS can be used for georeferencing aerial images but the accuracy of new point coordinates is higher if a triangulation is performed. A practical test with GPS, INS and a digital camera on a helicopter is evaluated. The camera was not calibrated beforehand. Instead an on-the-job calibration had to be done with support from the GPS and INS measurements. This might have influenced the final accuracy estimations as the calibration parameters are adjusted to fit the GPS and INS measurements of this particular data set. Check points were measured in the GPS/INS oriented and calibrated images and the result shows that GPS and INS can be used for georeferencing aerial images.

Digital mobile mapping, which integrates digital imaging with direct geo-referencing, has developed rapidly over the past fifteen years. Direct geo-referencing is the determination of the time-variable position and orientation parameters for a mobile digital imager. Direct measurement of exterior orientation parameters has been a challenge in photogrammetry for many years. Direct sensor orientation using a calibrated GPS/INS system can potentially eliminate the need for ground control points and aerial tiiangulation, and consequently, result in a great reduction in the cost and time of aerial photogrammetry. Previous studies have shown that, compared to co...

متن کاملGPS/INS/Seeker Integrated Navigation System for the Case of GPS Blockage
When GPS blockage occurs for a loosely coupled GPS/INS system, its navigation error diverges. To deal with such cases, this paper introduces an integration scheme for GPS, INS, and an image sensor. The proposed integration scheme is attractive in that it accomplished the position and velocity accuracy improvement by the angular information only. The angular information is provided by the gimbal...
